Our KimMag magnetic rope test uses the most
sophisticated equipment which was actually
developed for the ultra-deep mining industry in
South Africa. Providing accurate results on all
types of wire ropes, it is able to:

• Scan an entire length of wire rope for internal
  damage and corrosion;
• Quantify the damage and relate it to international
  discard criteria;
• Recommend whether to continue to use, or
  discard the rope.

The hall sensor captures and analyses a
cross-section of the rope checking for 'Loss of Metallic Area' (LMA)
and 'Localised Flaws' (LF). Corrosion, pitting, missing and broken wires
and abrasion are detected in the combined LMA and LF scans.

This information is highlighted on a graph as a permanent record of the inspection.
