from Hallam Polymer Engineering Ltd. (HPE) in
the UK.

V-thane is the trademark name from HPE for their
range of polyurethane materials. HPE’s towing sleeves
and shoes have been designed specifically for wire
ropes operating from a winch. V-Thane towing sleeves
and shoes are manufactured from an exceptionally hard
wearing but resilient material that retains flexibility
even at freezing temperatures, and is resistant to sea
water and oil.

Towing sleeves and shoes provide protection against
abrasion and chafing of the wire rope against bulwark
rails, towing rails and other parts of the vessel’s deck
equipment. They also protect the vessel from damage.
